A Letter

To whom this may concern,

Though this is not a long letter, I’d like to tell you a little about my life. My whole life has been a roller coaster, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. However, there are instants in life that it feels that everything’s hopeless and it’d be better to give up and not try. Fortunately for me, I had a very significant figure in my life. She told me many things that several people wish to be told. It took only one statement to make me feel happy and a sense of belonging. Want to know what it was? This is what she said: I love you. Cheesy, yes. Nevertheless, it kept me going and trying my hardest. Who is this wise creature? Well, I’ll tell you. She’s my mom. And she never hesitates to make me feel like I belong.

Sincerely,
Me.

Where Do I Belong?

When there is no place to go
I see you searching for someone you know
Though it is tough to keep pushing through,
Try to understand that you are not one of few.
If you look over here and over there,
People are waiting for you to share.
So keep your eyes open to those who wait
And try not to stray to those who hate.
For to them fair may be foul and foul is fair.
If you may cross them, keep your air.
For life is not a question of where.

I Belong to Myself....

“What is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?” This is a very good point; however, to what extent is man willing to go with this sort of outlook? There are many who live by this that chooses to be “approved” rather than accepted by the norm. For me, this is unacceptable.

I do not agree that to be accepted into a community, it’s best to conform to the ways that is considered “normal.” I find it better to be yourself and attempt be something that is just not, in lack of better words, you. Therefore, when I see people acting the same way for only the goal of being acknowledged, the first thing that I think- as audacious as it sounds – how pathetic. I mean to want to only be recognized as something that is anything but who you really are, is not worthy of respect or admiration.

Most foundations of trends, at least in my opinion, are due to the media. Sure there are things in the media that are pleasing to the eye, but not to the extent that I want to make myself fit that image. Though it’d be nice feel more like I belong rather than stick out, I choose being myself and being comfortable with who I am and not who I’m not.

In conclusion: I belong to myself.

Belonging as a University student

“Failure is success if we learn from it.” This is a quote that helps motivate one, more specifically me, through the frustrating times of high school. There were many temptations to give up in the midst of my work because of the level of difficulty. I was always saying this cannot be right or there’s something wrong, but eventually I learned to take what I do for what it is. May it be a failure or success; it is still something of value. Therefore, I should not cast aside my work if it is unsatisfactory, but try harder next time if there is fault found in it by those whose opinion is valued the most. I think that having this sort of outlook is a great way to live by while being a university student. The reason behind this is because there are always challenges in being a college student. For example, there are always classes, a social life, a family life, and working to manage. Also, mistakes are bound to happen, so when they do, I think that it is better to take them as they come and then turn them into successes. Since I am accident prone, I try my hardest not to seem that everything that I’ve achieved is a mistake. However, when there are mistakes, it is neither difficult nor easy to turn the situation around for my benefit.

Another attribute that I believe will assist a college student is flexibility. Like I have said, there are many obstacles for students living on their own, thus one must be able to comprise when things go awry.

The point that I’m trying to make is that though it’ll be difficult with the constant working and living as a student of a university, I believe that I belong as one. I’m willing to work my hardest and do whatever I can do to survive and succeed in my studies as well as supporting myself. Therefore, I believe that I belong as a University student.

A Place Called Earth

*ALERT* I had no idea what I was writing so there's a chance that this will not make sense.......

This post is a combination of works by Russeo, Gwedolyn Brooks, Tupac, Malcolm X, and Steven Biko. Each one with their own thoughts and ranges of work but equal in every way........

A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything. Therefore when the world stopped caring about a tragedy, nothing good will be gained.

Will continue when more inspiration hits me...... SORRY!

War: What is it good for?

Many have said this to justify their reasoning for war. I think the only reason why people say this is because they lost hope in diplomacy and negotiation. This is horrible because many problems can be solved through communication. Although I recognize that war has helped many countries find independency and justice, I find that there are also wars that only harmed rather than benefit the people. For example, Iraq. Though there was a major threat of terrorism that originated from that country, there was no reason in massacring every native. Another point I'd like to make is that war not only makes a huge impact on our opposition, it also harms us. Our people, mothers, daughters, fathers, brothers, all of them are in danger of losing their lives for something that may seem noble, but is not in reality. Which leads to a conclusion that war is, on majority, a case of appearance versus reality. So tell me, war, what is it good for?
